Overview

At The Children’s Village, our infants and toddlers grow and learn in a safe nurturing environment.  Our bright clean classrooms are well stocked with appealing, age appropriate toys and materials carefully chosen to foster a variety of skills.  Our youngest students go outside everyday to play in our playground or for a walk through the neighborhood.  All of our staff members have extensive experience with young children including infants and toddlers.

At The Children’s Village, we realize how difficult it is to entrust your precious little one into the care of someone else.   Feel free to visit as many times as you need and ask as many questions as you need to feel comfortable.  We have an open door policy, and welcome you to visit as often as you wish.  Chat with the teachers at drop off and/or pick up time.  Telephone to see how your child’s day is going.  You will receive a written daily report form to let you know what happened while your child was with us.

Motor Skills Development

Our tiniest students are hard at work developing their muscles.  The youngest infants are often found down on the floor, free to practice rolling over or reaching for a toy.  Lots of time is available for toddlers to dance, run, and climb.  During  quieter moments, we may be found using pop beads, or scribbling with crayons.  It looks like play, but these activities help us to develop an awareness of our body in space and provide a foundation for future skills such as writing.

Cognitive Development

Infants and toddlers are constantly gaining information about the world through their senses.  Everything they see, feel, taste, and hear is new to them and provides an opportunity to gather new information about the world.  We like to enhance this process by incorporating lots of sensory activities into the curriculum.  Our littlest students can be found exploring fabrics of different textures, listening or dancing to music, or looking at the many interesting pictures displayed at their eye level.  Some of our favorite activities include using the water table and playing with play dough.

Language Development

The foundations of language and literacy development begin during the first years of life.  Our caregivers facilitate language development throughout the day.  For example, we respond to and sometimes repeat infants sounds, explain what is happening during routine activities such as diaper changes, and engage infants in many individualized face to face interactions throughout the day.  We encourage toddlers to name things, and support their early attempts at social interactions with peers.  We sing and read stories regularly too!

Social -Emotional Development

Everyday our teachers assist children in developing a positive self concept.  The children are encouraged to express their feelings, and are given the tools necessary to work through negative thoughts and emotions.  Also, social interactions are greatly encouraged.  Through these interactions our children will gain confidence and develop the skills necessary to get along with others.

Please feel free to visit The Children’s Village at Mansfield Depot anytime.  We look forward to talking with you!
